This is so hard to write.
Rick passed away Monday, October 21.
He was transported to the hospital by ambulance on Friday
night. Rick was unable to walk even though he had his
oxygen on because the interstitial lung disease he had
finally filled his lungs.
He died in my arms last night.
Rick wanted to be cremated and interred at Barrancas
National Cemetery. (graveside services are
Friday morning at 9:30 a.m.)
I am still in shock, even though I knew he was terminally ill.
Dr. Wagner, a pulmanologist at Sacred Heart Hospital,
stated that of all the different interstitial diseases
he could have had, his was the worst kind.
