Horns and
Lights

Back when I was married to my first wife, Peggy and my
sister Helen was living with us, my brother, Walter and his wife,
Marie, had come over and we were all to have dinner there. Peggy was going
to go to the store to get some last minute items and since it was dark, she
turned the car lights on.

Walter and I heard the car horn start blowing so we went to the door to see
what Peggy wanted, thinking she was signaling us with it. She walked up to
the door and said, "Okay, what did you do to the car ?" Walter and I had
done nothing to it and told her so. She didn't believe us and told us that
when she turned the lights on the horn blew instead of the lights turning on.
Well with Walters knowledge of cars and my knowledge of electricity we knew
that wasn't right and being somewhat of a smart-aleck, I sarcastically asked,
"When you blow the horn do the lights turn on?"

Peggy said she didn't know
but when we went to the car and she tried it, I was amazed when pressing the
horn button made the headlights turn on. This perplexed us all. Helen took
Peggy to the store while Walter and I proceeded to trouble shoot
the electrical system. We found a cable full of wires had been crushed by
a mounting bracket and the wires had shorted together causing the problem.
Now that's one for the record books and it is a true unembellished
story
