Frank was the second child of Anton Gruner and Caroline Pilz. He never married.
He lived his entire sixty-five-plus years in the same house on the farm where he
was born. He took over the management of the farm after his father’s death in
1905 and was noted as a progressive farmer, particularly noted for his fine apple
orchards. He was interested in community and national affairs, a staunch Republican,
a member of the township Board of Review and a moderator for the local school
district.
