G-451 Edith Morrison - Dovey Home
497 8 Mile Road
Union City, MI49094

G-4.5-1 Edith Morrison (1872-1971), a daughter of Pauline Adolph and Russell Morrison, married Francis Dovey in 1903. After marriage, the couple purchased a 185 acre farm in Burlington Township.

There they raised sheep, milk cows and pigs. Said to be innovative, they were one of the first in the area to buy a tractor and a threshing machine and did custom harvesting. They called the farm "Dovey's Roost" a name that has stuck to this day.

Edith's daughter, Marion married Elmer Hull and taught school in Livonia, Michigan. After Marion died in 1963, her son, Gregory Hull was sent to live with his grandmother Edith.

Greg holds a degree in Agricultural Mechanization from Michigan State University. Under his management, the farm has been expanded to a large productive farm. Greg's son Frank and family now live on the farm.
