Charles Morrison - Bessie Smallbone
Built before 1900
272 Union City Road
Coldwater, MI
G-4.5-4 Charles Russell Morrison (1878 - 1956) was the fourth child of Pauline Adolph
and Russell Morrison. He married Bessie Small bone in 1914, and they had one
child Donald Morrison. Donald died recently and his widow Marjorie Copeland Morrison
still lives in the smaller house across the yard from this one pictured.
This house has not been lived in, probably since Charles and Bessie passed away,
but the family has continued to maintain it. Donald and Marjorie's daughter Linda
Lee (married Blaire Mathews) continues to be sure the buildings are kept looking
well and lives nearby.
Linda Lee was Branch County Register of Deeds for 30 years, retiring at the end
of 2004. She is very interested in maintaining family contacts and serves the family
Reunion Association as its Treasurer.
The farm buildings are all on the north side of Union City Road, but the land is on
both sides and some lies east of Bell Road. It is nearly flat and considered to be
some of the best "Girard Prairie" soil.
