Gruner-Dan. (An. 223 Dec 1693) D'or a la fasce de
gu., ch. d'une couronne du champ et acc. de troir
treflies de sin, C.: un loin iss. d'or.
(translation)
In gold, with a red fess charged with a gold crown;
on the gold, three green trefoils.
Crest: a rising golden lion.
The Gruners were said to be able to trace their ancestry almost
five hundred years, from the Baltic Sea to Reichenberg, Bohemia.
The beginnings are in that area of northern Europe that was a
part of the Danish Empire under the reign of Christian V, a ruler
that learned not to trust his court.He opened his highest offices
to Holstein nobles and the burghers of the merchant class.
In doing this he established two new orders of nobility
~ counts and barons. ~
The Gruners were of the merchantile class, eventually
manufacturers of woolen cloth.
~ We were told that Franz von Gruner (1790-1856), was a baron ~
